Overview:

Selank is a synthetic peptide composed of 7 amino acids, which is why it is classified as a heptapeptide. It is structurally related to tuftsin, a naturally occurring tetrapeptide involved in immune and neuroimmune signaling, with an added Pro-Gly-Pro sequence at the C-terminus.

Selank has been studied in laboratory, animal, and limited clinical research settings for its potential role in stress-response pathways, neurotransmitter signaling, neuroimmune modulation, and cognitive-related mechanisms.

Much of the scientific interest around Selank comes from its reported interactions with GABAergic signaling, monoamine regulation, gene expression related to neurotransmission, and immune-response pathways. These mechanisms remain investigational and are not fully established.

Selank has been studied in experimental models involving anxiety-like behavior, stress response, cognition, inflammatory signaling, and neuroimmune regulation.

Mechanism Overview:

Selank has been investigated for potential interactions with several biological pathways, including GABAergic system modulation, serotonin and dopamine-related signaling, brain-derived neurotrophic factor-related pathways, cytokine regulation, and gene-expression changes associated with neurotransmission. These mechanisms remain investigational and are based on preclinical and limited clinical research.
